Neena Phan is a Vietnamese/Cambodian illustrator/author who loves to bake up batches of plots and concoct some curious characters. She got her start in storytelling, oddly enough, through fashion school at Parsons The New School for Design where she learned about concept creation, character design, mood-boarding and story-boarding: all the elements a storyteller needs. It wasn’t apparent to her that she was a “real” storyteller until her last semester of senior year when she took a children’s book illustration class…and she hasn't looked back!
She likes to write passionate and/or peculiar stories in any and all formats---from picture books, to MG, even YA...But her love of all things color, textiles, and nature turns her into an eager beaver to illustrate its pages. Her first illustrated/authored picture book The Lonely Fox will be debuted in Fall 2026 with Clarion Books.
